Occupational Therapy Milestones

At 2-3 Months, a child will typically:
- While lying on their back, visually track a rattle from mid-line to each side (90 deg.)
- Look at hands for 3 seconds
- Grasp and hold a toy tightly for 30 seconds
At 4-6 Months, a child will typically:
- Extend their arms to reach when lying on their back
- Grasp and pull toys
- Pick up a rattle
At 6-8 Months, a child will typically:
- Move forward up to three feet using their arms
- Pull to sitting position
- Maintain sitting balance while grasping and reaching for a toy
- Roll from back to stomach
- Lift head while lying on their stomach
At 9-18 Months, a child will typically:
- Clap hands
- Remove socks
- Voluntarily release small toys
- Isolate finger/thumb movement (pincer grip) to pick something small without bracing their arm on a hard surface
At 2 Years, a child will typically:
- Complete a simple 3 piece puzzle
- Stack 4-6 cube blocks
- Draw a vertical line
At 3 Years, a child will typically:
- Build a bridge of 3 blocks
- Draw a circle
- Build a wall of 4 blocks
At 3-4 Years, a child will typically:
- Cut paper into 2 pieces independently
- Lace 3 holes independently
- Draw a cross and circle based on a model
- Button and unbutton successfully
- Use a “tripod” grasp
At 5 Years, a child will typically:
- Color between 2 vertical lines
- Accurately fold a piece of paper lengthwise
- Have adequate scissor control to cut basic shapes
- Draw circles and squares
